Headlights and bumper lights sit low and toward the center of the truck. On a dark trail that leaves gaps: the edges of the trail, the inside of a corner, and the ground just off to each side.

A light at the A-pillar sits higher and further out, near your eye level. From there it can be aimed straight ahead or angled slightly to each side to fill in what the lower lights miss, which gives better visibility out on dark trails.
