Because the system is modular, choosing one now does not lock you out of the other later.

That is the whole point of the design, and it is worth being concrete about what it means:

• Start with a basic setup — the frame and one tire mount is a complete, useful system on its own
• Add components as your needs change — cargo sections, a quick-release jack mount, fuel jug carriers, a second tire position
• Change the configuration later without replacing the frame you already bought
• Skip what you will never use. If you do not carry fuel, you do not buy a jug carrier

The organizer can be configured with shock mounts for rear suspension setups running roughly 20 inches of wheel travel — the structure is already in the bed, so it doubles as the mounting point for a through-the-bed shock.

That turns a storage system into half a suspension kit. If that is where you are heading, the 20" rear travel bed organizer kit is the Gen 2 version built around exactly that, and the Gen 3 bed cage kit is the equivalent for a 2021-up truck.
